DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT:

IOT SOLUTIONS

FOR

CATASTROPHIC CONGESTION AT PLACES OF MASS GATHERING

“Safety and Resilience” is key ingredient in the process of developing “smart community” or “smart city” through the use of technologies. Smart community is a “risk informed, risk aware and risk ready” resilient community capable of perceiving, understanding and responding to any forewarning. Potential offered by modern technology, specially Internet of Things (IoT), works as key enabler in realising risk resilience in the community through gathering, analysing and sharing intelligence / data / information dynamically.

The
Internet of things
(IoT) is the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity which enable these objects to connect and exchange data.

RESPECT announces second conference of ICMC summit series (ICMC 2018) to be held on 10th
February 2018 at Gandhinagar Gujarat in collaboration with GIAR. Technology expert in the area of IOT and disaster management experts will be presenting IOT based solution for addressing challenges and issues associated with “
CATASTROPHIC CONGESTION AT PLACES OF MASS GATHERING” during one day conference.

This is the first national conference on use of “IOT in disaster Risk management” in India which offers

unique opportunity to disaster risk management planners, practitioners and responders to acquire understand

–(1) what is Internet of things (IoT) and (2) how IoT can be used for enhancing community resilience irrespective of environmental and other constraint and (3) specific application of IoT tools for managing risk at places of mass gathering with catastrophic congestion (temples, railway stations, music concerts, mela etc..) The conference also offers opportunity to academia, scientists and researcher to understand application of IOT is Disaster Risk Reduction which is a new subject and has immense potential for instituting research.
